Asking for Autographs
Authors are usually happy to sign autographs, however, here are some tips to remember.
- Do present a book or journal not a scrap of torn paper
- Let them know you are pleased to meet them
- Be polite, a compliment is welcomed
Seize the right opportunity to ask for their autograph - Ask for a specific message or date included
- Let them know the spelling of your name
Thank them and smile - You may suggest a friend take a photo while you are receiving a signature
- Have a good pen ready although usually they use their own
- If you are standing in a long queue have your page opened ready
- Ask nicely for them to include a contact address or email
